Put Your Sales on Autopilot With a Follow Up Sequence

To maximize sales and stay connected with your readers, a follow-up sequence via email is essential. For instance, if you’re promoting a high-ticket training program, an autoresponder sequence can help keep your readers engaged. Here’s a typical follow-up sequence for a free opt-in series:

Email 1:

This email should be the first to go out after confirming the subscription. It should provide the reader access to your free webinar, either through a link to the replay or instructions to join you for the live event. You may also want to include some reminder emails for live events.

Email 2:

This email should be the reply email for a live event or the first follow-up if the original was a replay. It’s a good idea to offer a few bullet points of what the reader learned, encourage them to watch the replay (if it’s only available for a limited time), and provide an offer to purchase the training program.

Email 3:

A few days later, include a case study of someone who has used your training program. Combined with a great offer, reading about someone else’s results can be a powerful motivator.

Email 4:

Use this follow-up message to answer any objections and remind readers that the replay is going away (if it is). For example, list some FAQs or even questions you’ve received about your refund policy, who the program is for, or payment options. Remind them about the offer.

Email 5:

This is the final reminder that the offer is going away soon. Encourage the reader to email you with questions (if you have the systems in place to manage a lot of email).

Email 6 and beyond:

If your reader reaches this point without buying, you should continue to stay in contact by offering great information, case studies, tips, and other interesting content, but also offer other products that might be of interest.

It’s important to note that if your reader buys your program at any point, you must remove them from this sequence. Most autoresponder services have automation built-in that allows you to move subscribers from one list to another based on their actions.

Using a follow-up sequence is a hands-off approach to email marketing that can help you build a true passive sales funnel. Incorporate this system into your business to optimize sales and build a stronger connection with your readers.
